About us

Make a cup of coffee, walk the dog, answer the phone; this is all the time it takes to change your life.

I left Jim sleeping at 7:00 AM and went to work.  I came home at 6:00 PM to find the house dark and the dog howling.  Jim was barely conscious and unable to speak, He had a stroke.  In the blink of an eye our lives changed from right side up to upside down.

So after the 911- the crying, the ICU, and 3 months of rehabilitation what do we do AFTER THE STROKE.   Where do you turn, what questions do you ask, how do you proceed, how to get help, the right help, and the right answers.

His stroke was severe and he was alone for so long that medically there was not much they could do for him.

I was told to put him in a nursing home and not to marry him (that’s another story in itself).  But After the Stroke the real work begins.  I found with hard work, determination, faith and perseverance that things can get better and miracles do happen.

Yet after three years I am still searching for advice, and answers.  I get help where and when ever I stumble across it.  It should not be that way, the help should be there at fingertip reach.  Answers for all the questions you as the caregiver may have and answers for the stroke survivor as well.

Hope is out there,  help is out there,  it is within all of us,  just reach out and share your experiences AFTER THE STROKE.
